Sun: practical advice

To enjoy all the benefits of the sun safely, it’s essential to take some simple precautions:

  • Stay out of the sun between noon and 4pm: this is the time of the day when radiation from the sun is at its most intense

  • Over exposure to the sun is seriously dangerous for your health

  • Expose yourself to the sun gradually

  • Avoid staying in the sun for long periods of time even if you’re using a high factor sunscreen

  • Put some more sunscreen on after having a bath or doing any sport, and at least every 2 hours. In order for it to be effective, the sun cream must be applied generously over all the areas of the body exposed to the sun (not forgetting the nape of the neck, the ears and temples)

  • Do not expose babies and children under 3 years to the sun

  • For protection your children should wear a hat, a t-shirt and sunglasses even when the sun is hazy

  • Beware of sun glare because, even under a hat or a parasol, you are still at risk of sunstroke
